Stone Flick Fund Update
Word FM, a local, faith-based radio station, and the Souderton-Telford Rotary who partnered with Univest Foundation to establish the Stone & Flick Children Fund are pleased to announce that the Fund has reached $109,538.62 as of Tuesday, January 13. The Fund was started to assist the Stone daughters and Anthony Flick, surviving children who lost their parents and sibling after the devastating tragedy in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania on Monday, December 15.
“We are overwhelmed by the support of the community so far,” said Dave Baker, Word FM station manager. “It’s heartwarming to see people coming together to help those in need. We are encouraged to see that even if we can’t replace the void in these kid’s lives, we can help make their future a little brighter”
To meet the ongoing needs of the Stone daughters and Anthony Flick, Souderton-Telford Rotary and Word FM have set a fund goal of $500,000. In addition to continued donations from individual donors, events led by a variety of local community groups will contribute to achieving this fundraising goal. Several efforts have already occurred, others are scheduled to take place in the next two weeks and more will be planned throughout the year.
On Sunday, January 18, a spaghetti dinner will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sellersville Moose, 301 W. Park Ave., Sellersville. Advance tickets are not needed. The cost of the dinner is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 10.
On Sunday, January 25 at 7:00 p.m., Concert Sundaes is hosting a special show to benefit the Stone & Flick Children Fund at Souderton Area High School. This is a free concert featuring Souderton alumni and friends including Michael Borowski, Matt Ensminger, Amy Rohm and Dirk Quinn. In addition to collecting donations throughout the show, proceeds from refreshment sales will go to the fund and various items will be up for auction/raffle.
“After such a tragic and horrific crime, a crime that created four orphans, it is encouraging to see our community rise to the support of the children,” said Jim Leary, chief of police for Souderton Borough and president of Souderton-Telford Rotary Club. “The generosity of so many has been incredible and I am confident that it will undoubtedly help the children know we stand beside them and are here to help them move forward.”
If you aren’t able to attend the upcoming events but still want to contribute to the fund, individuals can do so in the following ways:
- Go online to WordFM.org to make a general fund donation via online payment
- Send checks payable to Univest Foundation and designate “Stone & Flick Children Fund” in the memo line. Mail to Univest Foundation, 14 North Main Street, PO Box 559, Souderton, PA 18964
- If individuals donating wish to direct funds to one of the children, please include their name in the check memo line
Univest Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization so all donations are tax deductible. Donors can be assured that their donations will be secured in a private account, growing with interest until all funds are designated to the children to assist with needs involving their ongoing health, education, maintenance and safety. A funds management team has been formed with legal counsel involved to handle the disbursements.
